Châteu Mukhrani

Located in the Kartli region, Château Mukhrani is Georgia’s first and only royal château, seamlessly blending vineyards, a winery, a historic palace, and a rich heritage. Its winemaking journey began in 1878 when Prince Ivane Mukhranbatoni, a noble of the Bagrationi dynasty, returned from France, bringing Bordeaux and Champagne techniques to Georgia. His vision revolutionized Georgian wine, earning gold medals at the 1889 Paris Exhibition and expanding exports across Europe and the U.S.

Despite its early success, the estate suffered from Grape Phylloxera (1895) and the Bolshevik era, leading to its decline.

In 2002, Château Mukhrani was reborn when Dr. Frederik Paulsen Jr. and his team embarked on an ambitious restoration of the vineyards, palace, and wine cellars. Today, the estate spans 102 hectares, cultivating both local and international grape varieties using 100% organic viticulture. Since its first modern vintage in 2007, the winery has been dedicated to producing hand-harvested, premium-quality wines that honor its rich past.

Beyond winemaking, Château Mukhrani has become a top wine tourism destination. Since 2011, visitors have enjoyed wine tastings, historical tours, fine dining, and exclusive events at its restored palace and elegant venues, including the Palace Dining Hall and L’Orangerie.

With its deep heritage, innovation, and commitment to quality, Château Mukhrani continues to offer exceptional wines and unforgettable experiences to guests from Georgia and beyond.
